Hang up (end the call)
End the call politely when the caller is done.
Last updated:
The hang-up tool ends the call: the agent speaks a short closing line, waits for it to finish, then disconnects. It is the one tool every new agent has by default.
When it fires#
The agent hangs up when it decides the conversation is complete, so guide it to end only when the caller signals they are done, and never mid-conversation. If the caller starts speaking again right after the closing line, the hang-up is cancelled.
Prompt example#
"When the caller confirms there is nothing else, thank them by name if you have it and end the call with a brief, warm goodbye. Never hang up while the caller may still be speaking."
Pairs with#
The satisfaction question before hanging up (Security/Behavior) makes the agent ask one closing question before it is allowed to end, useful to avoid abrupt endings.
