Sign-in on your domain with Google, Apple or an email code
Let your customers sign in and create accounts on your own domain with Google, Apple or a code by email, under your brand and with your own apps.
Last updated:
On a package with white-label (Enterprise, Enterprise Plus) and your own domain connected, your customers can sign in on that domain with Google, Apple or a code sent to their email, and new customers can create an account there by themselves. Everything they see carries your brand, and Google and Apple show the name of your own app, not ours.
Turn it on in Settings > Sign-in on your domain. Only an account administrator of the main account can change it.
To switch it on you need at least one public monthly plan, which you create in Settings > Plans, and your own Stripe connected in Settings > White-label. Without both, the switch cannot be turned on and the settings say which one is missing. While sign-in is on, you cannot delete or hide your last public monthly plan.
What your customers see#
- The sign-in page on your domain shows Continue with Google, Continue with Apple and Email me a sign-in code, for the methods you switched on.
- A link under the buttons, Create an account, opens a page where a new customer names their company and continues with one of the same methods. They need no password.
- The code by email has six digits, is valid for 10 minutes and can be used once. It is sent from your own mail server when you set one up in Settings > Email, otherwise from ours under your brand name.
- A person who already uses Voiceland, or another provider built on it, can use the same email on your domain. They see only what belongs to them with you.
What a new customer gets#
Each new customer gets a project of their own under your account, with its own balance: it never uses your main pool. If you set Welcome minutes, that many minutes move from your pool to the new project when it is created (0 means none). If your pool is short at that moment, the account is still created, without the minutes. Each new customer also starts on one of your monthly plans, the one marked New accounts start here in Settings > Plans. When none is marked, it is your first free plan, otherwise your first plan. If that plan is free, the customer is on it at once and pays nothing. That plan carries no monthly minutes: the project uses its welcome minutes and any bundles the customer buys, and the customer can move to a paid plan at any time. If it is paid, the customer is taken to the plan picker with it already selected, and the plan becomes active as soon as the payment comes back. After that the customer pays for minutes with the plans and bundles you sell (see White-label mode), or you transfer minutes to the project yourself.
Every new account is announced by email, to the address you set in Tell me about new customers at (or to your account owner when it is empty), in Greek or English, and to the Voiceland team.
When New customers can create an account is off, only people who already have an account with you can sign in. When you reach the project limit of your package, new customers see that accounts cannot be created right now.
Your team keeps its password#
On your domain a password signs in only your own team, the users of your account and its projects. Everyone else uses Google, Apple or the email code. A customer who signed in this way has no password, so the console shows them no form to change one.
Setting up Google#
- In the Google Cloud Console, create an OAuth client of type Web application for your own project.
- Add the Authorized JavaScript origin and the Redirect (return) address that Settings > Sign-in on your domain shows for your domain, exactly as shown (use the copy buttons).
- Paste the Client ID and the Client secret into the same settings, switch Google on and save.
The client secret is stored encrypted and never shown again. To replace it, type a new one; leaving the field empty keeps the saved one.
For a click-by-click walk-through, with the consent screen and the test users, open the article Step-by-step guide to Google and Apple sign-in (also reached from the Step-by-step guide link next to this setting).
Setting up Apple#
- In your Apple Developer account, create a Services ID and enable Sign in with Apple for it.
- Add your domain and the Redirect (return) address shown in the settings.
- Create a key with Sign in with Apple enabled and download its key file (.p8).
- In the settings, enter the Services ID, your Team ID and the Key ID, upload the key file, switch Apple on and save.
Apple shares a customer's name only the first time they sign in, and a customer may choose to hide their email: Apple then gives a private relay address, which works like any other.
For the full procedure, including the App ID, the key and where to find your Team ID, open the article Step-by-step guide to Google and Apple sign-in (also reached from the Step-by-step guide link next to this setting).
Turning it off#
Switch off a method, or the whole feature, and save. Customers who are signed in stay signed in until their session ends; nobody can start a new sign-in with a method that is off. Their projects, minutes and data stay as they are.
When something does not work#
- The sign-in provider did not accept the request: Google or Apple refused your app. Check that the redirect address is registered exactly as shown, that the client secret is current and that the Apple key was not revoked.
- That sign-in link is no longer valid: the sign-in took longer than 10 minutes or was opened in another browser. Start again.
- This email has no account here, and new accounts are closed: switch on New customers can create an account, or add the person to a project yourself.
